Description of key information
Additional information
Toxicity data are available for three trophies levels (fish, daphnia, and algae). To consider the toxicity of the test substance in a sewage treatment plant, toxicity data regarding microorganisms are also reported.
Rainbow Troutwere used in an acute toxicity experiment conducted according to OECD guideline 203 (Fish, Acute Toxicity Test). After an exposure of 96 hours, an LC50 of above 0.17 mg/L was determined.
The toxicity experiments on aquatic invertebrates were performed with Daphnia magna. After an exposure time of 48 hours, an EC50 greater than 0.49 mg/L is reported according to OECD guideline 202. The No Observed Effect Concentration (NOEC) for
immobilisation of adult Daphnia was determinded to be 0.022 over a 21 day period.
Concerning toxicity to algae of test substance one study was conducted according to OECD guideline 201 (Alga, Growth Inhibition Test). After 72 hours exposure the following results were obtained: EC50 > 0.49 mg/L and NOEC > 0.49 mg/L. Results were based on growth rate and biomass.
The last valid available study which can be reported regarding aquatic toxicity refers to microorganisms. The materials used in an experiment are not provided and the test method was concerning the guideline OECD 209(Activated Sludge, Respiration Inhibition Test). In this growth inhibition study an IC50 > 1000mg/L was observed after 3 hours exposure duration.
