Additional information

The water solubility determination was performed according to column eluation method (OECD guideline 105). The water solubility of the 1-((2-Butyloctyloxymethyl)-2-(3,4-dihydro-isoquinolinium-2-yl)ethyl)sulfate amounts to 2.5 mg/L +/- 0.08 mg/L at T = 20.0°C +/- 0.1°C. Thus, determination of the hydrolysis as a function of pH of 1-((2-Butyloctyloxymethyl)-2-(3,4-dihydro-isoquinolinium-2-yl)ethyl)sulfate is scientifically unjustified and not required under REACH. According to Annex VII Sect. 9.2.2.1, Col. 2, no further tests are required.

1-((2-Butyloctyloxymethyl)-2-(3,4-dihydro-isoquinolinium-2-yl)ethyl)sulfate was tested in a carbon dioxide evolution test according to OECD guideline 301B. The test was left running for 28 days. Aniline was chosen as positive control. Biodegradation of the positive control was 99.7% (28th day). The biodegradation of the test item is 26 % (28th day). In this test, the test substance is considered partly or moderately biodegradable, but the test substance is considered not readily biodegradable.

1-((2-Butyloctyloxymethyl)-2-(3,4-dihydro-isoquinolinium-2-yl)ethyl)sulfate was tested in a bioconcentration test to Zebrafish (Danio rerio) over an uptake period of 14 days followed by a depuration period of 16 days according to the US EPA Guideline, OPPTS 850.1730, the OECD-Guideline 305, 1996 and the MITI-Guideline to the Testing Methods for New Chemical. The bioconcentration factor for 1-((2-Butyloctyloxymethyl)-2-(3,4-dihydro-isoquinolinium-2-yl)ethyl)sulfate was 9.1 based on the mean of BCFss and BCFk. This value is based on total radioactivity in the whole fish on wet weight basis.

1-((2-Butyloctyloxymethyl)-2-(3,4-dihydro-isoquinolinium-2-yl)ethyl)sulfate was tested using High-Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) according to OECD guidelines 121. The estimated log Koc was 3.9.
