Administrative data

Endpoint:
oxidising solids
Data waiving:
study scientifically not necessary / other information available
Justification for data waiving:
the study does not need to be conducted because the organic substance contains oxygen or halogen atoms which are chemically bonded only to carbon or hydrogen and hence, the classification procedure does not need to be applied
Justification for type of information:
JUSTIFICATION FOR DATA WAIVING
According to Annex VII, section 7.13, column 2 of Regulation No. 1907/2006, an oxidising properties study does not need to be conducted if the substance is incapable of reacting exothermically with combustible material on the basis of its chemical structure. The structure of Balsalazide acid was assessed for chemical groups that would indicate oxidising properties and was found to contain no such groups. Therefore, the oxidising properties of Balsalazide acid have been predicted negative based on the chemical structure.
