According to Regulation (EC) No. 440/2008, this endpoint is designed for solids, gases and pyrophoric liquids. As 2-methylpyridine is a liquid which is freely miscible in water (and hence not flammable upon contact with water), this test is not indicated. The flashpoint of the substance is between 23 and 60 °C, and so the substance is classified as a Flammable Liquid, Category 3. The harmonized classification in Regulation (EC) No. 1272/2008 includes the designation of Flammable Liquid, Category 3.
