Description of key information

Melting starts at 649°C in nitrogen followed by decomposition and evaporation starting at 736°C and 790°C, respectively.
In air, oxidation starts at 754°C (Outotec, 2010). The melting point of CdTe in air is of 1042°C (Lide, CRC Handbook of Chemistry and Physics).

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Melting / freezing point at 101 325 Pa:
1 042 °C
