Details on sampling:
Aquatic samples for saturated test solution and control were retained at -20°C for potential chemical analysis. Samples were taken at the start of the experiment and 24h intervals thereafter. Carcass of all fish was retained at -20°C for potential chemical analysis.

Test done according standard protocol. The LC50 results and the LOEC are higher than the solubility level of thest item in the test medium. No acute effects were seen at a concentration of 1 g CdTe/L.

Description of key information

The toxicity of CdTe on Danio rerio was assessed over an exposure period of 96 hours.

The LC50 derived was >1 g CdTe/L. This endpoint will be used for classification.

Additional information

CdTe had no toxic effect at aquatic saturation on freshwater fish. A limit test was performed in the main experiment using only one test concentration at the limit of solubility of the test item in the test medium (100% v/v saturated solution) and one control group. The LC50 results and the LOEC are higher than the solubility level of the test item in the test medium, i.e. >1 g CdTe/L.
