Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

log BCF = 0.768 (estimated based on a calculated log Pow) (GUBDH, 2008)

Key value for chemical safety assessment

BCF (aquatic species):
5.866 dimensionless

Additional information

In accordance with column 2 of Annex IX, a study on bioconcentration in fish does not need to be conducted if the substance has a low potential for bioaccumulation. The log Kow of 2.1 for octahydro-4,7-methano-1H-indenedimethanol (TCD Alcohol DM) (NITE, 2004) indicates a low potential for bioaccumulation. QSAR estimation supports a very low bioconcentration potential in aquatic and benthic organisms:

The log BCF of TCD Alkohol DM was estimated to be 0.768 (BCF 5.866) using the program BCFWIN v2.17 (Part of US EPA EPI Suite) (GUBDH, 2008).

Therefore and for reasons of animal welfare a fish study is not performed.
