Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.
The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Results and discussion
Applicant's summary and conclusion
- Conclusions:
- Due to the state of the test item of “ABSORBENT N grade A” as complex compound so called UVCB (substances of Unknown or Variable composition, Complex reaction products or Biological materials) a determination of the Partition Coefficient (n-octanol/water) according to OECD 107 and OECD 117 is not possible.
- Executive summary:
The test item is a complex compound which needs to be described as UVCB. It consists of a large amount of different components as shown in the chromatograms provided by the client. In an UVCB substance it is not distinguished between main constituents and impurities, due to the large amount of constituents and the relatively low percentage of each of them. Furthermore the components show inhomogeneous properties in terms of their solubility. These properties and the great number of components make a determination of the Partition Coefficient (n-octanol/water) according to OECD 107 and OECD 117 as well as a profound estimation through calculation of the partition in an octanol matrix impossible.
Due to the specified problems described above a determination of the partition coefficient according to OECD 107 and OECD 117 is technically not possible.
