Skin sensitisation

Endpoint conclusion
Endpoint conclusion:
adverse effect observed (sensitising)
Additional information:

After epidermal as well as intradermal induction and epidermal challenge Naphtol AS D caused slight to moderate erythema and edema in 6 of 10 animals. This result was confirmed by a local lymph node assay performed under modern guidelines and with GLP documentation.

Migrated from Short description of key information:
Naphtol AS D was tested in a local lymph node assay as well as in a Magnusson-Kligman test.
In the LLNA the Ec 3 value was 0.4 % and in the Maximisation study 6 of 10 animals showed positive reactions.

Justification for classification or non-classification

Positive effects were detected in more than 30 % of the treated animals.

The LLNA showed a clear increase in cellular DNA synthesis in the ear lymph nodes and an EC 3 of 0.4 % after dermal treatment.
