Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

A reasonable estimate of BCF can be obtained by estimation from log Kow using the method in the Technical Guidance Document on Risk Assessment (EC 2003, Part III. Chapter 4, Section 4.5.2.2, Page 31 - 33). The estimated value is 229 l/kg-wwt.

Triethoxyisobutylsilane hydrolyses (half-life approximately 22 h, predicted) in contact with water to isobutylsilanetriol and ethanol. Triethoxyisobutylsilane is also readily biodegradable. Therefore,

the bioaccumulation of the parent substance is only relevant for local exposure with continuous input. The predicted BCF value for the parent is used in the exposure assessment as a worst case.

The hydrolysis products isobutylsilanetriol and ethanol have low log Kow values (<3), and thus have low potential for bioaccumulation.
