Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

Only one study exists addressing the toxicity of RSS-4, dry substance towards microorganisms (1996, rated Klimish 2). This study is run as a preliminary study for the assessment of biodegradation potential. The test as such is not designed to fully investigate the toxicity of the test substance to microorganisms. However, it can still be considered relevant for this endpoint.

The 5-day bacterial inhibition assay was conducted as a closed bottle test to determine whether RSS-4, at a concentration of 10 mgC/L, inhibited the normal degradative activity of the bacterial inoculum on the reference material, sodium benzoate. Although an operational error prevented an assessment of the degradation of sodium benzoate in the presence of RSS-4, the high level of oxygen consumption in the mixtures containing RSS-4 alone at 10 mgC/L (2.7 mgO2/L; 7% of its ThOD), indicated that the material was not inhibitory to the bacterial inoculum.
