Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

Only one study is available assessing the effect of RSS-4, dry substance on the growth of algae. This study (rated K1) is performed in 1997 according to internationally accepted methods and in compliance with the criteria of GLP.

In this key study, the effects of RSS-4 on the growth of unicellular green alga Selenastrum capricornutum (CCAP No. 278/4) have been determined over a period of 96 hours. Exposure of Selenastrum capricornutum to RSS-4 at a mean measured level of 81.4 mg/L did not result in a significant reduction of either the average specific growth rates or the mean biomass values compared to control cultures.

RSS-4 was not considered toxic to S.capricornutum when dissolved in water at 81.4 mg/L (measured concentration).
