Additional information

In all in vitro genetic toxicity assays (Ames test, V79 / HPRT) and the in-vivo micronuleus test, Pigment Yellow FC 26290 was negative.

Short description of key information:
Pigment Yellow FC 26290 was investigated in the Salmonella/microsome test (Ames test). Result: negative, no evidence of mutagenic activity of Pigment Yellow FC 26290 was seen (with and without mutagenic activation). An in vitro HPRT test according OECD TG 476 was also negative. Additional, Pigment Yellow FC 26290 was evaluated as negative in an in-vivo micronucleus assay. No indication for a mutagenic effect was found in this assay; according to the Regulation EC No. 1907/2006 (REACH) VIII 8.4.2, column 2, an in vitro cytogenicity study does not usually need to be conducted if adequate data from an in vivo cytogenicity test are available.

Endpoint Conclusion: No adverse effect observed (negative)

Justification for classification or non-classification

Pigment Yellow FC 26290 is negative in all relevant test systems. Therefore a classification is not justified.
