Description of key information

Based on the BOD5/COD = 0 and the outcome of Zahn-Wellens test, Reactive Black 039 was concluded to be not-biodegradable and stable in the environment. A hydrolytic stability test, performed on a structurally similar substance FAT 45168 according to OECD guideline 111 and EU Method C.7 (440/2008), concluded that the hydrolysis of the source substance FAT 45168/A at pH 4.0 and 25 °C was relative slow (t1/2 (25 °C) = about 100 days). Also, the adsorption to soil and sludge for Reactive Black 039 was tested using the HPLC method, the outcome indicates that it does not sorb strongly to soil and sludge and can be regarded as mobile.
