Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

The melting point is in the range of 840 and 845 °C at normal atmospheric pressure.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Melting / freezing point at 101 325 Pa:
845 °C

Additional information

A literature search was conducted and the available published data reviewed. In a weight of evidence approach the literature values were evaluated.

The literature search resulted in three independent values. The melting point was determined to be 845 °C (Hommel Handbook, query date 19 April 2016; Sax Handbook, 1992) and between 840 and 845 °C at normal atmospheric pressure (Gmelin handbook, 1960). All 3 independent values are in the same range and therefore regarded as reliable. A melting point of 845 °C was chosen as key value.
