Reference
Endpoint:
flash point of flammable liquids
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Reliability:
2 (reliable with restrictions)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
test procedure in accordance with national standard methods with acceptable restrictions
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
ISO No., other: Setaflash Closed-Cup Flash Point Test following ASTM D 3828-87
GLP compliance:
not specified
Type of method:
closed cup
Flash point apparatus:
Setaflash apparatus
Flash point:
82.7 °C
Atm. press.:
101.3 kPa

FP = 355.85K (converted to 82.7 °C)

Interpretation of results:
GHS criteria not met
Conclusions:
A flash point value of 82.7°C was determined in a reliable study conducted according to an appropriate test protocol. It was not conducted under GLP.

Description of key information

Flash point: 82.7°C at 101.3 kPa (ASTM D 3828-87)

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Flash point at 101 325 Pa:
82.7 °C

Additional information

Two reliable flash point values are available; a closed cup flash point of 82.7°C (DCC 1999) and an open cup flash point of 85°C (Chilworth 2004). The former value is selected as key because the value is lower, and a closed cup method was used.

A secondary source to which reliability could not be assigned indicates a slightly lower flash point of 77°C. All values are consistent with the substance not being classified for flammability.
