Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

THPC is expected to be infinitely soluble (highest tested concentration: 37.7 kg/L), as suggested by the read- across with its parent salt: THPS.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Water solubility:
37 700 g/L
at the temperature of:
21 °C

Additional information

No data on dried THPC water solubility is available.

Because of the salt nature of THPC, hazard properties of chloride salt could be predicted to be equivalent to hazard properties of the sulphate salt (THPS). The read across with a similar substance as THPS is then considered as relevant.

The water solubility of dry THPS was determined under GLP, according OECD 105 guideline. A preliminary test to measure the solubility was performed by shaking weighed amounts of test substance and distilled water at 21 °C until complete dissolution. Only one phase was visible after 24h, the solution was deliquescent. It would be impractical to maintain pH values during the water solubility tests.

The composition of the test substance in water is pH and concentration dependent. The test stopped here and a definitive test by the column elution or flask shaking method was deemed unnecessary.

The dry THPS was then considered to be infinitely soluble, then THPC couls as well be considered as infinitely soluble.
