Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

Data on the toxicity of Fatty acids, C16-18 and C18-unsatd., ethyl esters (CAS 85049-36-1) to aquatic microorganisms are not available. The assessment was therefore based on studies conducted with the structurally similar substance on Isopropyl oleate (CAS 112-11-8) as part of a read across approach, which is in accordance with Regulation (EC) No. 1907/2006, Annex XI, 1.5. Further justification is given within the overall summary chapter 6.1 and within the analogue justification section 13.

The study with Isopropyl oleate (CAS 112-11-8) was performed as a limit test according to the guideline ISO 10712 (Mead, 1997). A culture of the test organism Pseudomonas putida was exposed to the test substance in a static system for 16 hours, at the nominal concentration of 10,000 mg/L. There was no significant difference in growth rate between the control and the 10,000 mg/L loading rate. A nominal EC50 > 10,000 mg/L is reported.
Based on the available read across data toxic effects of Fatty acids, C16-18 and C18-unsatd., ethyl esters (CAS 85049-36-1) to aquatic microorganisms are not expected.
