Fatty acids, C16-18 and C18-unsatd., ethyl esters (CAS 85049-36-1) is considered to be readily biodegradable. Experimental data on the biodegradability of the substance are not available. The assumption is based on a read across to Isopropyl oleate (CAS 112-11-8). Based on the ready biodegradability in water rapid degradation of the substance in aquatic and terrestrial environments is expected. Thus, in accordance with Regulation (EC) No. 1907/2006, column 2, 9.2.1.2. - 9.2.1.4., further simulation tests on biodegradability in water and sediment or soil are not necessary.
