In some literature cases were reported various effects on sight and hearing: in a study visual disturbances have been associated with general excitation after administration of 0.06 -4 g of Camphor; an appearance of flickering, darkening, or veiling of vision accompanied noises in ear, weakness, and convulsions were observed [*-10]. In another case was reported deafness association with Camphor and ulceration of the mucous membranes[*-5].
Camphor was also reported to be able to crosses the placenta and has been considered implicated in fetal and neonatal death when camphorated oil was mistaken for castor oil[*-4].
All of these findings were associated to administration of drugs, Camphor, and are not sufficient to consider substance as dangerous.
Nevertheless data are also not enough to completely exclude any adverse effects; considering outcomes on fetous, controlled studies on animals excluded these type of adverse results; instead cosidering the observations reported on sight and hearing there are not controlled studies available on neurotoxicity that could confirm or not confirm adverse effects.
In conclusion there are no sufficient data available to consider substance as dangerous, but data are also not enough to completely exclude any further investigations.
Furthermore note that is not clear how these considerations are adeguate to L-Carnitineamide D-Champorated.
