PBT assessment

Administrative data

PBT assessment: overall result

PBT status:
the substance is not PBT / vPvB
Justification:

Persistence

Polyol IXOL M125 is considered as hydrolytical stable and is not ready biodegradable. Therefore, based on the data currently available, Polyol IXOL M125 is considered as potentially persistent in the environment as a worst-case assessment.

Bioaccumulation

The measure log Kow of Polyol IXOL M125 was determined to lie between 0 and 3, and hence biocaccumulation is not expected. Based on a Log Kow <= 4.5, the substance is considered not to fulfil the B or vB criteria for PBT assessment.

Toxicity

For Polyol IXOL M125 a chronic toxicity study in algae is available in which a 96-h NOErC of 500 mg/L was observed. Since this value is much higher than the screening criterion of 0.01 mg/l, it can be expected that Polyol IXOL M125 does not fulfill the criteria for aquatic toxicity. Polyol IXOL M125 is not classified as being a CMR and there is no evidence that it is chronically toxic towards mammals. Therefore Polyol IXOL M125 is not assigned as toxic.

Overall conclusion on PBT assessment

Although the criteria for P or vP are met, Polyol IXOL M125 is not B/vB or T. Therefore, overall the substance may be considered as not PBT/vPvB.
