Additional information

One study investigating the ready biodegradability of 1,7-octadiene is available (91-0238-DGO). The study was carried out according to ISO Draft BOD Test for Insoluble Substances with domestic activated sludge under GLP conditions. The test included a positive control with diethylene glycol that attained 85% degradation after 14 days and 96% degradation after 28 days. Based on oxygen consumption, 1,7-octadiene attained 53% degradation within 28 days of incubation. Hence, 1,7-octadiene has to be classified as not readily biodegradable according to the strict OECD criteria.

Nevertheless, to further evaluate the biodegradation potential of the substance, a QSAR calculation using BIOWIN v. 4.00 is performed (2013 -0146 -DKB). On the basis of this calculation the ready biodegradability of the test substance is assumed.
