Description of key information

Not oxidising, structural assessment and calculated oxygen balance, Deegan 2013

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Oxidising properties:
no

Additional information

The oxidising potential of the test substance was determined by examining the structure of the substance and also by calculating the oxygen balance.

The study followed accepted structural assessment and oxygen balance calculation procedures with a good level of reporting. The study was assigned a reliability score of 2 in accordance with the criteria of Klimisch (1997) and considered suitable for assessment as an accurate reflection of the test material.

Based on an absence of structural concerns and a calculated oxygen balance which gave a negative value, it is concluded that the substance is unlikely to exhibit oxidising properties.

Justification for classification or non-classification

In accordance with with criteria for classification as defined in Annex I, Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008, the test material does not meet the criteria for classification as an oxidising substance.
