Description of key information

Flammability (solids): non flammable, EU Method A.10, Licata-Messana 1998b
Flammability (contact with water) - In accordance with Section 1 of Annex XI of REACH, testing for flammability in contact with water is scientifically unnecessary. Based on the absence of structural alerts and experience in handling and use, a negative result is predicted for this endpoint.
EU Method A.12 (Flammability (Contact with Water)) is omitted.
Flammability (pyrophoric properties) - In accordance with Section 1 of Annex XI of REACH, testing for pyrophoric properties is scientifically unnecessary. Based on the absence of structural alerts and experience in handling and use, a negative result is predicted for this endpoint.
EU Method A.13 (Pyrophoric Properties of Solids and Liquids) is omitted.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Flammability:
non flammable

Additional information

The flammability of the test material (burning characteristics) was assessed in accordance with EU Method A.10. Under the conditions of the test, the test material did not propagate combustion. The test material is therefore not classified as highly flammable in relation to its burning characteristics.

The study was performed in line with GLP and an accepted standardised guideline with a high level of reporting. The study was assigned a reliability score of 1 in accordance with the criteria of Klimisch (1997) and considered suitable for assessment as an accurate reflection of the test material.

Overall, the test material can be concluded to be non-flammable as it did not produce a positive result in the flammability (solids) study and, based on chemical structure, water reactivity and pyrophoric properties are not to be expected.

The available data are considered to be complete and the conclusion, non-flammable, was taken forward for risk assessment.

Justification for classification or non-classification

In accordance with the criteria for classification as defined in Annex I, Regulation (EC) No. 1272/2008 (CLP), the substance does not require classification for flammability.

In accordance with the criteria for classification as defined in Annex VI, Directive 67/548/EEC (DSD) the substance does not require classification for flammability.
