Results for Radish were not reported since they demonstrated high levels of standard deviation in both Control and Test samples. The NOEC and LOEC for Oat was 300 and 1000 mg/kg dry weight soil, respectively, and, 300 and 1000 mg/kg dry weight soil, also, for Tomato.Chloracetamide, the reference substance, demonstrated an NOEC of 100, 10 and 10 mg/kg dry weight soil for Oat, Radish and Tomato, respectively.

Executive summary:

The phytotoxicity of CYCLOHEXYL SALICYLATE to one monocot (Oat,Avena sativa) and 2 dicot plant species (Radish,Brassica rapa, and, Tomato,Lycopersicum esculentum) was studied over a period of 1 Month. Five test concentrations (10, 30, 100, 300 and 1000 mg/kg dry weight soil) were prepared by mixing appropriate quantities of the test substance in to the soil. The test began by planting seeds in the treated soil with four replicates per plant per test concentration. Plant development was observed over a 1-month period under the following environmental conditions : temperature 18 – 21°C, air humidity 55 – 80% and a 16 hr/8 hr light / dark cycle. Fresh leaf weight was measured in each sample and compared against the Control. Results were compared to Chloracetamide, which served as a toxicity reference substance.
