The acute aquatic toxicity of 2 -Hexyl-2 '-hydroxy-5 'methyldecananilide (AF-654) was evaluated in fish, aquatic invertebrates and algae, as well as microorganisms. The available studies for these endpoints were conducted according to OECD or EU guidelines and following GLP requirements. No effects of the test substance on the test organisms could be observed up to the limit of water solubility. The substance was tested in all the studies at a nominal test concentration of 100 mg/L. Therefore, the effect values of all reported endpoints are above the solubility limit of AF-654.

Taking these results into consideration, it can be concluded that AF-654 is not acutely toxic to aquatic organisms up to its limit of water solubility (≤ 0.02 mg/L).
