Key result
Boiling pt.:
310 °C
Atm. press.:
1 013 hPa

The test item showed a second endothermic signal in the temperature range of  260 – 320 °C that can be associated with the boiling of the test item.  For the correction of the boiling temperature to normal pressure the test item was assigned to chemical group 3 (e.g. Esters). According to appendix 8.2 a correction value φ = 5.45 was used for a temperature of 310 °C.  The lowest measured onset temperature is corrected to the normal pressure to be 309.85 °C and the highest onset temperature to be 310.07 °C. The corrected temperatures of the boiling point do not differ more than 0.5 K from their mean value of 309.96°C. The test item has a boiling point under atmospheric pressure (1013 hPa) of 310.0°C. No further thermal effects were observed up to the test end temperature of 500 °C.

Conclusions:
The test item Diethyl Sebacate Lot 1727003 has a boiling point of 310.0 °C at atmospheric pressure (1013 hPa) as determined by differential scanning calorimetry according to Regulation EC No. 440/2008 Method A.2. and OECD Test Guideline 103 (1995).
Executive summary:

For that endpoint, one reliable study performed on the registered substance and according to the OECD 103 guideline was available.

Under the experimental conditions, the boiling point of the sample " DIETHYL SEBACATE Lot 1727003" is 310.0°C at atmospheric pressure (1013 hPa) and was determined by differential scanning calorimetry.

The validity criteria were successful and the study was therefore regarded as acceptable for that endpoint.
