After the 12 days stirring period, the solution was clear and no undissolved test substance was observed visually. Based on this, it was concluded that the water solubility of (S)-1,3,4-trihydroxybutan-2-one is 1331 g/l at 19.6 ± 1 .0°C. The pH of the water phase was 3.1.
