Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Administrative data

Endpoint:
acute toxicity: inhalation
Data waiving:
exposure considerations
Justification for data waiving:
the study does not need to be conducted because exposure of humans via inhalation is not likely taking into account the vapour pressure of the substance and/or the possibility of exposure to aerosols, particles or droplets of an inhalable size
Justification for type of information:
Fatty acids, tall-oil, esters with ethylene glycol (CAS 68187-85-9) is a liquid UVCB substance with a calculated vapour pressure of <0.01 Pa and therefore it is a substance of low volatility. Under normal use and handling conditions, inhalation exposure and the availability for respiratory absorption of the substance in the form of vapours, gases, or mists is considered to be limited (Guidance on information requirements and chemical safety assessment, Chapter R.7c: Endpoint specific guidance. Version 3.0, June 2017). Exposure via the inhalation route is expected to be unlikely to occur and no acute inhalation toxicity study was conducted due to animal welfare reasons and in accordance with Regulation (EC) No. 1907/2006, Annex VIII, 8.5.2, Column 2.
