Test organisms

Test organisms (species):
Daphnia magna
Details on test organisms:
As test system Daphnia magna Straus (Cladocera, Crustacea) was employed in the assay, as described by the guideline OECD 202:2004. The animals were less than 24 hours old at the start of the test, and they were not first brood progeny. They derived from Daphnia magna ephippia, supplied by the qualified provider ECOTOX LDS. Ephippia are a quiescent form of animals which can be hatched when needed.
The vials with the ephippia were stored in the refrigerator at 5 °C ± 2 °C; they were provided with a quality control certificate which reported the test species, the batch number, the expiration date, the storage and hatching conditions, the expected hatching, and the EC50 - 24 h value for K2Cr2O7. As internal quality control, EC50 value was determined for the batch of ephippia used in the test, and reported in the control chart Mod. 775/GxP.
