The water solubility cS of the test item Vat Green 13 at a temperature of 20 °C was determined according to the flask method. It was found to be:

Reference
Preliminary test
Three preliminary tests were carried out with specified amounts of the test item and 100 ml and 500 ml demineralized water, respectively. After each addition of an amount of water, the mixture was stirred for at least 24 hours, and visually checked for any undissolved particles.

The preliminary test showed that the water solubility of the test item is < 10 mg/L.As the item is insoluble in organic solvents according to sponsor’s information, it is impossible to coat the sea sand of the columns with the test item. For this reason, the column elution method is not applicable and the water solubility had to be determined by the flask method.
Flask method
The flask method was performed as described above. The data for the evaluation are given in Table 4. After the equilibration time precipitate was observed in the flasks of the experiments excluding in the blank experiment. The water solubility was calculated from the measured and unrounded concentration values and not from the rounded values given in Table 4.

The water solubility of the test item at 20 °C was determined to be lower than the quantification limit (< 1.08 mg/L) of the analytical method.
Description of key information
The water solubility cS of the test item Vat Green 13 at a temperature of 20 °C was determined according to the flask method. It was found to be:
cS < 1.08 mg/L
The above mentioned value is based on the TOC measured in water. However, not only the test item but also (more) soluble impurities are included in the TOC measurement. Therefore, the water solubility of the test item was calculated with WSKOW v1.42 included in EpiSuite 4.1.
The water solubility of Vat Green 13 was calculated to be 1.0 E-10 mg/L at 25°C.
