Description of key information

Dimethylbutylamine (free base) inhibited the growth of algae P. subspicatus. Based on growth rate the EC50 (72 hrs) was 9 mg/L.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

EC50 for freshwater algae:
9 mg/L
EC10 or NOEC for freshwater algae:
3.4 mg/L

Additional information

The inhibitory effect of N,N-Dimethylbutylamine on cell proliferation of the green algae Scenedesmus subspicatus was determined according to the EU method C3 and under GLP conditions. The EC50 (72 hrs),based on growth rate was 9 mg/L with the free base, the EC10(72 hrs) was 3.4 mg/L (BASF AG, 1991).
