PBT assessment: overall result

PBT status:
the substance is not PBT / vPvB
Justification:

The substance is not P/vP

- N,N-Dimethylbutylamine was readily biodegradable in a valid OECD biodegradation test (TG 301B).

- N,N-Dimethylbutylamine was easily eliminated from water in a valid Zahn-Wellens test (OECD TG 302B-Inherent biodegradability). The DOC removal was 96% within 13 days . Adsorption to the sludge was not observed. Based on these results it is concluded that the accumulation potential of N,N-Dimethylbutylamine is low.

The substance is no B/vB

- Partition coefficient n-octanol / water (Pow): Pow = 3.2 / log Pow = 0.5 (TG 117).

The substance is not T

- The only EC10 that is available for marine / freshwater organisms is the 72-hour NOEC for freshwater algae of 3.4 mg/L (which is ≥ 0.01 mg/L) (TG 201).

- All available L(E)C50 values are above 0.01 mg/L

- The substance is not classified as carcinogenic (category 1A or 1B), mutagenic (category 1A or 1B), or toxic for reproduction (category  1A or 1B or 2) according to Regulation EC No 1272/2008.

- There is no other evidence of chronic toxicity as identified by the classification STOT RE category 1 or 2 (relating to specific target organ toxicity after repested exposure) according to Regulation EC No 1272/2008.
