Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Endpoint:
flammable solids
Data waiving:
other justification
Justification for data waiving:
other:
Endpoint:
pyrophoric solids
Data waiving:
study scientifically not necessary / other information available
Justification for data waiving:
the study does not need to be conducted because the substance is known to be stable in contact with air at room temperature for prolonged periods of time (days) and hence, the classification procedure does not need to be applied
Endpoint:
flammable gases
Data waiving:
study technically not feasible
Justification for data waiving:
the study does not need to be conducted because the substance is a solid
Endpoint:
substances / mixtures which in contact with water emit flammable gases
Data waiving:
study scientifically not necessary / other information available
Justification for data waiving:
the study does not need to be conducted because the substance is known to be soluble in water to form a stable mixture

Description of key information

Highly flammable solid (A10): no
Highly flammable gas (A11): no
In contact with water substance liberates highly flammable gases (A12): no
Pyrophoric substance (A13): no

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Flammability:
not classified

Additional information

A10: The substance is a low melting solid (melting point 51.9 °C), therefore a test for the flash point (157 °C) of the substance was conducted. According to CLP regulation, a substance is not considered flammable when the flash point is greater than 60 °C.

A11: In accordance with Regulation (EC) No 1907/2008, Annex XI a test according to A.11 (flammability gases) is not considered to be required, since the test item is a solid block with a melting point of 51.9 °C and a decomposition temperature of 224.85 °C, and therefore not a gas at room temperature.

A.12: In accordance with Regulation (EC) No 1907/2008, Annex XI a test according to A.12 (flammability in contact with water) is not considered to be required, because the test item does not contain groups that might lead to a reaction with water or damp air, leading to the development of dangerous amounts of gas or gases which may be highly flammable.

A.13: In accordance with Regulation (EC) No 1907/2008, Annex XI a test according to A.13 (pyrophoric properties of solids and liquids) is not considered to be required, since the test item is stable at ambient temperature. The test item does not contain any chemical group that might lead to spontaneous ignition a short time after coming in contact with air at room temperature (circa 20 °C). Furthermore, experience in handling shows that the test item does not ignite in contact with air.
