Endpoint:
water solubility
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Reliability:
1 (reliable without restriction)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
comparable to guideline study
Justification for type of information:
Performed to good standards under different pH conditions with confirmatory analysis.
Qualifier:
equivalent or similar to guideline
Guideline:
OECD Guideline 105 (Water Solubility)
Version / remarks:
Tested at different pH levels
Principles of method if other than guideline:
The solubility in water was based on determination of Chromium by ICP.
The method included initial visual assessment by direct observation in deionised water.
Tested unchanged in water and also buffered to pH 1.5, pH 7 and pH 10
GLP compliance:
no
Type of method:
flask method

Water solubility:
> 100 g/L
Conc. based on:
test mat.
Temp.:
20 °C
pH:
ca. 10
Remarks on result:
other: Buffered pH 10
Details on results:
The testing was performed in the presence of buffer to asses the solublity at pH 1.5, 7 and 10 to assess the effect of pH on solubilty that in turn would indicate differences under biological and environmental conditions.
There was no significant effect of pH within this range.
Conclusions:
Solublity in water over a range of pH is approximately 1000 g/l
The testing was performed in the presence of buffered to asses the solublity at pH 1.5, 7 and 10 to assess the effect of pH on solubilty that in turn would indicate differences under biological and environmental conditions.
There was no significant effect of pH within this range.
Executive summary:

Therefore, under natural environmental conditions, it is likely that there is full dissociation and potential formation of other salts.

Description of key information

Solubility measured by IPC analysis of chromium to be > 1 g/ml

The testing was performed in the presence of buffers to asses the solubility at pH 1.5, 7 and 10 to assess the effect of pH on solubility that in turn would indicate differences under biological and environmental conditions.

There was no significant effect of pH within this range.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Water solubility:
1 000 g/L
at the temperature of:
