Applicant's summary and conclusion

Validity criteria fulfilled:
yes
Remarks:
24-h EC50 in a reference test with potassium dichromat was 1.0 mg/L (the results of inter laboratory tests and a Technical Corrigendum to ISO 6341 give an EC50-24 h of the potassium dichromate (K2Cr2O7) within the range 0.6 mg/L to 2.1 mg/L)
Conclusions:
The 48h-EC50 determined in this study was < 0.36 mg/L
Executive summary:

In a 24-h toxicity study, daphnids (Daphnia magna) were exposed toChloranil (2,3,5,6-tetrachloro-1,4-benzoquinone)at nominal concentrations of 0 (control), 0.36 and 0.72 mg/L under static conditions in accordance ISO 6341. The test material was delivered to the testing laboratory as a solution (nominal 0.72 mg/L in testing water) and no analytical monitoring was performed. The basis for effect was immobilization. The 24-hour EC50 was <0.36 mg/L. At 0.36 mg/L, immobilization amounted to 65%. The 24-hour EC100 based on immobilization was 0.72 mg/L.
