Conclusions:
Vapour pressure values of 12.9 hPa and 19 hPa at 20°C and 25°C respectively were determined for the substance using relevant test method and in compliance with GLP. The result is considered to be reliable..

Description of key information

Vapour pressure [trimethylsilane]: >100 000 Pa at 20°C
Vapour pressure [trimethylsilanol]: 1290 Pa at 20°C and 1900 Pa at 25°C (OECD 104)

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

Trimethylsilane is a gas at standard temperature and pressure, with a reported boiling point of 6.7°C. Therefore, the requirement to conduct a vapour pressure study is waived because based on boiling point value of <30°C, the vapour pressure is expected to exceed the limit of measurement (i.e. 1E+05 Pa) at ambient temperature.

In contact with water, trimethylsilane hydrolyses slowly to produce trimethylsilanol and hydrogen. The vapour pressures of trimethylsilanol were determined to be 1290 Pa at 20°C and 1900 Pa at 25°C in accordance with a relevant test method and in compliance with GLP.
