Description of key information

Explosiveness: not relevant

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

The test methods specified in Regulation 440/2008 Part A.14 for explosivity relate to the thermal and mechanical sensitivity of solids and liquids. The methods are not applicable to gaseous substances and hence the study does not need to be conducted in accordance with Section 1 of REACH Annex XI. Testing for the explosive limits of gases and vapours is not a REACH requirement and conducting the study is therefore considered not relevant.

Also, on the basis of structural examination, trimethylsilane does not consist of any groups associated with explosive properties and in addition does not contain oxygen.

Justification for classification or non-classification

There is no evidence to suggest that the substance should be classified for this endpoint.
