Description of key information

After 72 hours of exposure the EC50 for both growth rate reduction and yield inhibition exceeded a time weighted average (TWA) concentration of 0.57 mg/L, being the maximum soluble concentration algal test medium.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

EC50 for freshwater algae:
0.57 mg/L
EC10 or NOEC for freshwater algae:
0.57 mg/L

Additional information

"Should read: EC50: > 0.57 mg/L"

Due to the low solubility of Estrone in algal test medium, concentration levels that might be toxic for algae could not be reached.
