Readily biodegradable: 86% (O2 consumption) after 28 d (OECD 301F)

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

Two studies, investigating the ready biodegradability of fatty acids, C16-18 (even numbered) and C16-18-unsatd. (even numbered), triesters with trimethylolpropane (CAS 68002-79-9), are available. In the key study (Börner, 2000) according to OECD 301F (Manometric Respirometry) and in the supporting study (Richterich and Berger, 1996) equivalent to ISO 10708 (Bodis-Test) sewage effluent was used as inoculum. In both studies a degradation of 86% within 28 days was observed and the 10-day respectively 14-day-window was fulfilled. In conclusion, the test substance is readily biodegradable according to OECD criteria.
