Description of key information

The test item is to be classified as a flammable substance.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Flammability:
flammable

Additional information

For this endpoint one study is available. The flammability of the substance was assessed according to EC No. 440/2008 Method A. 10 and UN method UN N.1. The test item could be ignited applying a flame as ignition source. The test item melted and the molten mass burned strongly. The lowest burning time over a distance of 100 mm was 43 s and it could not be stopped by a wetted zone.

Justification for classification or non-classification

In the CLP regulation (EC) No 1272/2008 in Annex I in Table 2.7.1 the criteria for flammable solids are depicted. The combustion of the substance could not be stopped by a wetted zone and the lowest burning time was < 45 seconds. According to Annex I, Table 2.7.1, the substance has to be classified as a flammable solid category 1.
