General Information

Name:
KY-EU
Implementation:
EU
Remarks:
- Annex VI substance (01 ATP, Index No 006-103-00-7)
- Self-reactivity: With respect to self-heating properties of the substance, it must be noted that the substance is not placed on the market as such, but as part of an oil-containing mixture. As liquids are generally not considered as self-heating according to CLP, the relevant UN test was not performed. However, to comply with REACH data requirements, an A.16 test (preliminary test) was performed with the pure substance. The result of this test was negative. In summary, the Physical hazards Classification for ‘self-heating substances and mixtures’ is considered to be conclusive.
- Corrosivity to metals: Based on the physical state of the substance (solid) and its extreme low water solubility
- Environment: The substance current classification and labelling in Annex VI in the CLP Regulation is H400 (aquatic acute 1) and H410 (aquatic chronic 1). Based on the fact that effects were observed and the substance could not be analytically detected, the EC50 was arbitrarily set by the French CA as < the water solubility limit (4.38 µg/L). However, the effects were only observed at very high loading rates (2000 and 4000 mg/L) and are most probably related to an impurity. In a repeat algae study with a WAF prepared at a loading rate of 100 mg/L no significant effects were observed. Therefore, the proposed environmental classification of the substance is H413 (aquatic chronic 4)
