Description of key information

With high probability, epsilon-Caprolactam is acutely not harmful to aquatic organisms.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

EC50 for freshwater algae:
1 000 mg/L
EC10 or NOEC for freshwater algae:
1 000 mg/L

Additional information

The key study was performed as GLP guideline test according to OECD 201. By use of a static procedure and Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata as test species a NOEC (72h) of 1000 mg/l and an EC50 (72h) >1000 mg/l were derived. The study was performed at the Mitsubishi Chemical Safety Institute Ltd. on behalf of the Ministry of Environment, Gouvernment of Japan.
