First-aid measures

4.1 Description of first aid measures
General advice:
In case of discomfort / After absorbing larger amounts of sub-stance: Immediately contact a doctor or Poisons Information Centre, and follow the advice given. Show this safety data sheet to the doctor in attendance.
If inhaled:
Move to fresh air.
In case of skin contact:
Remove contaminated or saturated clothing immediately and dispose of safely.
Wash off immediately with plenty of water.
In case of eye contact
:Rinse immediately with plenty of water, also under the eyelids, for at least 10 minutes.
Remove contact lenses if this can be easily done.
Immediate further treatment in ophthalmic hospital/ ophthal-mologist.
If swallowed:
Rinse mouth.
Drink 1 or 2 glasses of water.
Do NOT induce vomiting.
If conscious and medical aid is not available immediately, induce vomiting. Be sure to keep victim´s head below hips to avoid aspiration of vomitus into the lungs.
4.2 Most important symptoms and effects, both acute and delayed
Symptoms:
Erythema
Fall in blood pressure
increased pulse frequency,
Nausea
feeling of burning,
headache
Irritation of mucous membranes

after the intake of large amounts circulatory depression up to unconsciousness are possible
Risks:
Caution: Alcoholic beverages interact with cyanamide.
Symptoms showing flush are possible (difficulty in breathing, bright red face).
4.3 Indication of any immediate medical attention and special treatment needed
Treatment:
No specific antidote known. Symptomatic treatment. After the intake of small amounts: administer activated char-coal, sodium sulfate and much liquid orally. After the intake of large amounts: monitoring of circulatory functions, if necessary irrigation of the stomach preventing aspiration and taking into account the irritating properties to mucous membranes. In case of skin irritation, use corticoid containing external preparations.

Fire-fighting measures

5.3 Advice for firefighters
Special protective equipment for firefighters:
In the case of fire, wear respiratory protective equipment in-dependent of surrounding air and chemical protective suit.
Further information:
Cool containers/tanks with water spray.

Accidental release measures

6.1 Personal precautions, protective equipment and emergency procedures
Personal precautions:
Wear personal protective equipment; see section 8.
Ensure adequate ventilation.
6.2 Environmental precautions
Environmental precautions:
Product or extinguishing water with product must not be allowed to enter soil, sewers or natural bodies of water.

6.3 Methods and material for containment and cleaning up
Methods for cleaning up:
Sweep up and shovel.
Avoid dust formation.
Keep in suitable, closed containers for disposal.
Disposal according to local authority regulations.
Flush away with water
Don't use a high-pressure cleaner in order to avoid the for-mation of aerosols.

7.1 Precautions for safe handling
Advice on safe handling:
For professional use only.
Do not consume alcoholic beverages during handling cyanamide.
Avoid formation of dust and aerosols.
When opening:
Provide sufficient ventilation and exhaust at the workplace.
Advice on protection against fire and explosion:
Keep away from combustible material. Avoid temperatures above 40°C.
Hygiene measures:
Do not breathe vapours/dust. Contact with skin, eyes and clothes must be strictly avoided Remove contaminated or saturated clothing immediately and dispose of safely. Wash hands before breaks and immediately after handling the prod-uct. Do not eat, drink or smoke during use. Keep away from food, drink and animal feedingstuffs. Do not consume alcohol-ic beverages prior to, during and 24 hours after handling the product.
7.2 Conditions for safe storage, including any incompatibilities
Requirements for storage areas and containers:
Keep containers tightly closed in a cool, well-ventilated place. Protect from heat and exposure to direct sunlight
Advice on common storage:
Keep away from combustible material.
Keep away from food, drink and animal feedingstuffs.
Storage period:
4 Weeks
Recommended storage temperature:
<= 20 °C
Further information on storage stability:
Even if stored as directed, the product should be processed within 4 weeks after arrival.
Packaging material:
Suitable material: polyethylene, Polypropylene, Austenitic steel
