Results and discussion

Any other information on results incl. tables

Lungs of capsaicin-pretreated guinea pigs showed decreased sulphur dioxide-induced bronchoconstriction.  Release of CGRP neuropeptide: significantly increased from start to termination of exposure; no release from lungs of capsaicin-pretreated guinea pigs.

Bronchoconstriction, induced in isolated guinea pig lung by in vitro exposure to 250 ppm sulphur dioxide, was accompanied by the release of calcitonin gene-related peptide (CGRP) from capsaicin-sensitive sensory nerves into the pulmonary circulation.
