Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Endpoint:
flammable solids
Data waiving:
study technically not feasible
Justification for data waiving:
the study does not need to be conducted because the substance is a liquid
Endpoint:
substances / mixtures which in contact with water emit flammable gases
Data waiving:
study scientifically not necessary / other information available
Justification for data waiving:
the study does not need to be conducted because the organic substance does not contain metals or metalloids and hence, the classification procedure does not need to be applied
the study does not need to be conducted because the experience in production or handling shows that the substance does not react with water, e.g. the substance is manufactured with water or washed with water
Endpoint:
pyrophoric liquids
Data waiving:
study scientifically not necessary / other information available
Justification for data waiving:
the study does not need to be conducted because the substance is known to be stable in contact with air at room temperature for prolonged periods of time (days) and hence, the classification procedure does not need to be applied
Endpoint:
self-heating substances / mixtures
Data waiving:
study scientifically not necessary / other information available
Justification for data waiving:
the study does not need to be conducted because the substance is a liquid

Description of key information

In accordance with Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006, Annex XI, Section 2, flammability studies were not conducted as a consequence of the properties of the substance. The substance is regarded as a non flammable and non pyrophoric liquid. It is not flammable on contact with water and not a self-heating substance.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Flammability:
not classified

Additional information

Flammability according to EU Method A.10 is a property related to solids. For liquids, the flammable properties of a substance are deduced from the flash point. Based on flash point and boiling point the substance is a non flammable liquid.

Based on experience during handling and use and based on the chemical structure of the constituents of the substance, pyrophoricity and flammability on contact with water are not to be expected. Liquid substances show no self-heating behaviour if not adsorbed on a large surface.

Justification for classification or non-classification

The available data on flammability of the test substance do not meet the criteria for classification according to Regulation (EC) 1272/2008 and are therefore conclusive but not sufficient for classification: Flash point > 60 °C. The substance is considered not to be a flammable liquid. Based on the chemical structure and experience during handling and use, pyrophoricity and flammability on contact with water are not expected. The substance is a liquid. A liquid shows no self-heating behaviour if it is not absorbed on a large surface.
