Additional information

Diphenyl ether has a measured log Kow value of 4.21, indicating a moderate potential for bioaccumulation. However, measured bioconcentration factors (BCF) in fish indicate this potential to be lower than would be predicted from log Kow alone. The U.S. EPA BCFBAF software indicates that measured biotransformation half-life in fish is 0.8 days. Thus, metabolism/excretion is an important mitigating factor for bioaccumulation of this substance. Based on measured BCF values in carp and trout, the substance is regarded as having low potential for bioaccumulation, and does not meet/exceed the Annex XIII criteria for B or vB.
