Description of key information

Study considered unnecessary on the basis that Silicon Nitride is unlikely to cross biological membranes.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

In accordance with Annex IX Column 2 of the REACH Regulation, this study does not need to be conducted if the substance has a low potential for bioaccumulation or a low potential to cross biological membranes. Silicon nitride is an inorganic compound which is very poorly soluble in water; it is considered unlikely that the substance will be absorbed to a significant degree by any species in the aquatic environment and will not bioconcentrate. On this basis the study is considered unnecessary for Silicon Nitride.
