Endpoint:
additional toxicological information
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
disregarded due to major methodological deficiencies
Reliability:
3 (not reliable)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
other: The purity of the test substance was not reported. The protocols were quite described but the results were not detailed enough and the determination of the activities was confused. The GLP were not mentioned.

Materials and methods

Type of study / information:
Cytotoxicity: evaluation of the short-term tests for predicting the cytotoxicity
GLP compliance:
not specified

Test material

Constituent 1
Chemical structure
Reference substance name:
Cyclopentanone
EC Number:
204-435-9
EC Name:
Cyclopentanone
Cas Number:
120-92-3
Molecular formula:
C5H8O
IUPAC Name:
cyclopentanone
Details on test material:
The origin of cyclopentanone and cyclohexanone were not reported but their purity was checked by thin-layer chromatography, gas chromatography or NMR. If the test substance contained more than 3% impurity, it was purified using liquid chromatography, recrystallization and distillation.

Any other information on results incl. tables

Based on its toxicity in all four systems (A(cg)=0, A(om)=0, A(ca) and  A(md)=0) cyclopentanone showed a low mean activity, A(t) = 0.
Based on its toxicity in all four systems (A(cg)=0, A(om)=1, A(ca) and  A(md)=0) cyclohexanone showed a low mean activity, A(t) = 0.3.
