Based on the experimental results obtained with the analogue Calcium Acetate (LD 50 2700 mg /kg/bw for female rats = ca. 1943 mg/kg bw, and LD 50 for male rats between 3160 and 4640 mg/kg bw) and the molecular weights, the read-across approach is applied and the LD50 for substance Magnesium Acetate is calculated to be 2422 mg/kw/bw (ca. 1749.28 mg/kg bw for female rats, and between 2844.94 and 4177.38 mg/kg bw for male rats).

The analogue Calcium Acetate, which shares the same functional group with Magnesium Acetate, also has comparable values for the relevant molecular properties. These properties are:
- a low log Pow value which is - 1.38 for Calcium Acetate and -1.38 for Magnesium Acetate,
